Ahh…

AI productivity promises 10x, but I am still working more. My clients expect more from me. There is more judgment in the room now — everyone is an expert, and everyone asks whether you asked AI before you offer an opinion.

While everyone is investing billions and trillions into this new tech, the FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) about the DEV profession is growing large. That does not mean I am doing less. Even though I am still doing the same cognitive work — or more diverse technical work than I did in the past, just this time utilizing more agents — I am not shrinking the job. I am evolving in a different direction and reshaping how I work.

Regardless of that, I am not getting a pay raise anymore. I am being looked at suspiciously for my lack of 10x productivity. I am getting a bit sick of this and will be choosing a different path in the near future.

If you read this, I am sure you had your dose of LLM cocaine — when the prompts magically did the work and produced an amazing dashboard very quickly.

Things are changing. Now my CEO sends me AI tech opinions and is talking to me through AI. In one way that is good; in another, he is thinking: why the hell do I need this guy on my team? I do have a feeling a lot of people are just waiting to get rid of their devs — or their human workforce.

I disagree with that.

I need my human in the loop. They are deterministic, creative, and do amazing things. I'd rather design a way for AI to boost their productivity and let em use it than replace em.

I am not an AI doomer. I spend 4–5B tokens per month on average and I design my workflow around AI.

New way of communication

It's funny — I communicate with my non-tech peers using Markdown; they vibe-code their tools. I can see a pattern where everyone refines everything using AI by blurbing into the conversation and copy-pasting what AI writes.
